The economy in Belgium as well as in the Netherlands is based on the family business. More than half of the number of companies, whether we call them “SMB”, “SME” or “SMU”, is managed by an enterprising family. Many of these entrepreneurs are part of the so-called “baby boom” generation and they are now starting to think about the future and the succession of the entrepreneur. However, they often fail to come up with a cut-and-dried solution for these issues. QAT wants to become a partner in this process who, in cooperation with the entrepreneur, will develop a plan to address the situation as follows:

• to bring aboard a successor who will take charge of the daily management;
• to define and implement a growth trajectory together with the entrepreneur and the successor;
• subsequently to retire together.
